Violet Maimbourg is a visual artist from Cleveland, Ohio. Violet graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2021 with a BFA in Sculpture and Expanded Media. Violet’s work has been shown nationally and internationally. She recently graduated from Kent State University with an MFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in Sculpture and Expanded Media, teaching foundations courses as well as Intro to Sculptural Practices.

Violet mainly focused on video art and film for over a decade, originally attending Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, in 2013, majoring in Film/Video. This time inspired Violet to pursue a focus on practical special effects and props.

Her solo exhibition “Your Love Is My Favorite Carnival” opened at Waterloo Arts Gallery, Cleveland, OH, in August 2026. Her work was recently featured at Paroxysm at Westbeth Gallery in New York City. In addition, Violet recently won the Virginia Krauss Hess Award for Excellence in Sculpture at the Rosewood Art Center in Dayton, Ohio, as well as a Best In Show award in the Newburyport Regional Juried Show.

In February 2023, Violet was invited to give an artist lecture at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The lecture took place at the Studio for Creative Inquiry as part of The Sylvia and David Steiner Speaker Series Grant. She also led a two-day workshop at Carnegie Mellon on creating encapsulated silicone prosthetics.
